Hamish

Leny Falls
Kilmahog is a small hamlet on the A84 just a mile north of Callander in The Trossachs, Scotland. At one time more important than Callander with its own church - on the supposed site of the 'Cell of St Chug', two watermills driven by water sourced from the river Leny and also 'Leny House' once the home of the chief of the Clan Buchanan.
The old church was in the burial ground which can be visited to the south of the Trossachs road just before the bridge over the river Leny. The outline of the pre - reformation church can be seen close to an old stone building near the perimeter wall. Some interesting gravestones may be found here and the inscriptions can be viewed on the InCallander website .
The Kilmahog Woollenmill is a 250 year old mill from Scotland's industrial heritage is complete with its original water wheel. Meals are served all day during opening hours. The Trossachs Woollenmill is adjascent and also serves light meals and snacks. Hamish the highland bull lives in the next field and gladly accepts titbits which can be purchased in the mill shop.
Leny House is a baronial style mansion built round the fortified tower of a 16th century castle. It is not open to the public but offers stylish holiday accommodation in the north wing of the main house or in well designed log cabins.
On the Trossachs road is the Lade Inn, not only a pub and restaurant, but also a mini brewery AND a place to hear, and join in, with performances of live Scottish music every weekend.
About 2 miles north of Kilmahog in the Pass of Leny are the famous Falls of Leny. Leave the car in a large carpark on the east of the road and follow a riverside walkway for about 300 yards to visit the falls. Take care crossing the busy road - and take your camera.
Just across the bridge on the Trossachs Road beyond the Lade Inn is the C7 cycleway and footpath which can be followed all the way to Killin. There is also a forest road on the north side, just beyond the little cottage, which leads up the hillside to access the hill track to Ben Ledi, a popular hillwalk.
